Total in Algeria

In April 2017, we signed a comprehensive agreement with Sonatrach to strengthen our partnership, particularly in the area of exploration and production.

We own a 37.75% stake in the Timimoun gas field, which is currently in production.

We also own a 26.4% stake in the Tin Fouyé Tabankort II (TFT II) field and a 49% stake in the TFT SUD field, which are both in production.

Lastly, we hold a 12.25% interest in Blocks 208 and 404, which comprise 17 fields in production spread over three unitized zones (Hassi Berkine, Ourhoud and El Merk).

We hold a 49% stake in the STEP (SONATRACH Total Entreprise Polymères) joint venture. Its propane dehydrogenation and polypropylene production plant, currently under construction, will have an annual polypropylene output capacity of 550 metric kilotons.

We market petrochemicals in Algeria. These sales are conducted via a Total Petrochemicals France liaison office. We also market petrochemicals sourced from our Qatari joint venture.

We also operate in the specialty chemicals market through our affiliate Hutchinson, the leader in elastomers processing specialized in sealing, fluids management, anti-vibration systems, and materials and structures (acoustic and thermal insulation).

The gas produced under our licenses is sold on our behalf by Sonatrach. We also have a contract to purchase 3.6 million metric tons of LNG per year until 2020.

We market the following petroleum products and related services:
- Lubricants.
- Asphalt.

Our local affiliate, Total Bitumes Algérie, also has an import depot with 6,000 metric tons of storage capacity in the Port of Ténès and a cut-back and emulsion unit in Ouargla, 800 kilometers south of Algiers.
