Battery Recycling: Behind the Scenes at the Saft Site in Sweden

02/16/2024

The batteries marketed by our affiliate Saft are designed to have a reduced environmental footprint. For nickel-cadmium batteries – mainly used in industrial backup and in the rail and aviation sectors – Saft has developed a network to collect and recycle used batteries from its customers. Over 75% of the weight of recycled batteries is recovered for reuse in industry. The Oskarshamn plant in Sweden processes nickel-cadmium batteries collected in Sweden, Finland, Norway and the UK. Some of the materials are reused on site to produce new batteries: the circle is complete!
