Feature Story

Total has made natural gas, the least polluting of all fossil fuels, a cornerstone of its strategy in order to meet the growing global demand for energy while helping to mitigate climate change. In particular, we are focusing our efforts on liquefied natural gas (LNG) which, cooled to -163°C, can be easily transported and delivered as closely as possible to consumer markets. We are present across the entire LNG value chain, from production and liquefaction of natural gas, to LNG shipping and trading, to regasification using terminals or floating storage regasification units (FSRUs). We even contribute to the development of the LNG sector for maritime transportation. With a projected global portfolio of close to 40 million metric tons per year by 2020 and a 10% share of the world market, Total is currently the second-largest private LNG operator worldwide.
