We are active in South Korea through our affiliate SunPower (55.66%), which markets solar panels in the country.

In addition, our wholly owned affiliate Saft, which specializes in the design, production and marketing of high-tech batteries for industry, markets its solutions in South Korea via a distributor.

We own a 50% stake in Hanwha Total Petrochemicals, the joint venture that operates the Daesan refining and petrochemicals complex. Integrated with two condensate splitters and a steam cracker, the complex is ideally located on the country’s west coast, 400 kilometers from China, the main importer of its products.

In specialty chemicals, we are active in the country through our wholly owned affiliate Hutchinson, the leader in elastomers processing specialized in sealing, fluids management, anti-vibration systems, and materials and structures (acoustic and thermal insulation).

Lastly, we market base chemicals and polymers in the country, as well as petrochemicals sourced from our Hanwha Total Petrochemicals joint venture.

In South Korea, we have formed major partnerships with Kogas, the national natural gas company, in areas such as the sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG) sourced from our production in Australia (GLNG) and Oman (Oman LNG).

We have also signed a 20-year agreement with Kogas to purchase LNG from Train 3 at the Sabine Pass gas terminal, located in Louisiana in the United States.

Lastly, Total and Kogas have signed a three-year agreement to sell LNG in South Korea as from 2017.
