One of the biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects in the world, Yamal LNG is designed to unlock access to 4.6 billion barrels of oil equivalent in reserves. Novatek, Total (20%), CNPC and Silk Road Fund will invest $27 billion in the project, with most future LNG production already sold through 15- to 20-year contracts, primarily with European and Asian customers.
Today, more than 15,000 people work on the site. In this video we speak to Thierry Lacave, who is in charge of building the liquefaction and power plants and the LNG storage tanks. His story takes us on a journey right to the heart of a project carried out in extreme conditions.
