Total helps rebuild Notre-Dame de Paris with a €100M donation

The fire that ravaged Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral on Monday, April 15 sent shock waves through France and all over the world. Countless people have spoken of their sadness and distress at the damage caused, but also of their hope that the cathedral will be rebuilt quickly. Within Total, many employees and partners have expressed their support and their desire to get involved.

The day after the fire, the Total Group announced that it would be making an exceptional donation of €100 million to the French Heritage Foundation to help rebuild the cathedral, which has long been emblematic of Paris and France. Total decided to make this donation because Notre-Dame de Paris is an iconic monument that represents the Group’s French roots. It is a universal symbol of human aspiration and ingenuity. Total’s donation also demonstrates the importance of standing together, which is one of the Group’s values, and the need to share in the outpouring of emotion and exceptional mobilization that this tragedy has triggered worldwide.

Contributing to the restoration of heritage sites is a key focus for Total Foundation, which is why the Group has chosen to partner with the French Heritage Foundation. As its prime sponsor, Total has provided €28 million to support more than 230 heritage restoration projects in France over the last 12 years.
