Myanmar Myanmar

Total’s gas exploration operations in Myanmar date back to 1992, when we began developing the Yadana gas field to supply local markets in Myanmar and Thailand. Exploration is also in progress at other blocks.

We run a wide-reaching social and economic development program both nationwide and locally, addressing communities located in the vicinity of the pipeline between Myanmar and Thailand. The program serves 40,000 people in 33 villages.

We operate the Yadana offshore gas field in Blocks M5 and M6 with a 31.24% interest. Located in the Andaman Sea, around 60 kilometers from the Myanmar coast, the field produces gas that is primarily supplied to Thai national oil and gas company PTT. The Yadana field also meets 50% of domestic demand via two pipelines built and operated by state-owned Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE).

In addition, we operate (31.2%) the Badamyar offshore gas field located some 220 kilometers south of Yangon.

Exploration is currently under way at the following blocks:
- YWB (100%, operator), offshore
- A6 (40%), deep offshore
- MD-02 and MD-04 (40%), deep offshore
- MD-07 (50%), deep offshore

In Myanmar, we market petrochemicals sourced from our South Korean joint venture.
