It’s an important day for both the Confederation of African Football and Total.
Issa Hayatou and Patrick Pouyanné, their respective heads, officially signed a partnership agreement making Total the title sponsor of African football for the next eight years.
Patrick POUYANNE :“We were looking for something emblematic of Africa, an iconic team sport, a competition that was internationally recognized on our scale. The AFCON and the other competitions are recognized as global events. Thank you.”
Total is the No. 1 oil company and No. 2 multinational on the continent. Africa is part of its makeup.
Issa HAYATOU: “Our partnership with Total offers promising opportunities. It’s a major milestone in our ongoing search for additional resources to accelerate African football’s development and also contribute more to the welfare of young Africans.”
The signature of the partnership agreement will allow Total to promote football and the values it champions.
Total is now the title sponsor of around ten African competitions, including the legendary Africa Cup of Nations, now known as the Total Africa Cup of Nations.
