Exploration & Production in the United Arab Emirates

  • We operate and own a 75% interest in the Abu Al Bukhoosh (ABK) field offshore Abu Dhabi.
  • On behalf of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), we also operate two platforms, KKP and NKPP, located on the ABK field to produce gas from the Khuff reservoirs.
  • We hold a 13.33% interest in Abu Dhabi Marine Areas Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO), which operates two offshore fields, Umm Shaif and Lower Zakum.
  • We are 15% shareholders in Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO), which operates the Asab 3, Bab and Bu Hasa plants. GASCO produces liquefied petroleum gas (LPG — propane and butane) and condensate. It is supplied with the associated gas from Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations’ (ADCO) onshore fields and condensate and associated gas from the offshore fields of ADMA, Total ABK and Zakum Development Company (ZADCO).
  • We own 5% of Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company (ADGAS), which processes associated gas produced by ADMA, Total ABK and ZADCO into liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and condensate.
  • We have a 5% interest in National Gas Shipping Company (NGSCO), which transports LNG produced by ADGAS.
  • We own a 24.5% stake in Dolphin Energy Ltd., which transports and sells gas produced in Qatar to the U.A.E.
  • In the fertilizers sector, we own 33.33% of Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (FERTIL), which produces urea.

We have a 10% interest in the ADCO concession until 2055. It covers the 15 main onshore oil fields of Abu Dhabi and represents more than half of the United Arab Emirates’ production.

Gas and Power in the United Arab Emirates

We own 20% of Gulf Total Tractebel Power Co., the operator of the Taweelah A1 power generation and seawater desalination plant. The plant has a rated generation capacity of 1,600 MW and a seawater desalination capacity of 385,000 cubic meters a day. It covers about 10% of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s electricity and water needs.

As part of our petrochemicals business, we market polyethylene. We also sell products produced by Hanwha Total Petrochemicals, our South Korean joint venture at the Daesan complex.

  • We also market aviation fuel and special fluids.

Renewables Energies in the United Arab Emirates

We are active in the country via two different technologies:

  • Our SunPower affiliate offers high-efficiency photovoltaic solutions to meet the country’s renewable energy needs. SunPower is also an active member of the Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) and sits on the Policy Working Group of the Emirates Solar Industry Association.
  • We hold a 20% interest in Shams 1, one of the world's biggest concentrated solar power plants, located 120 kilometers southwest of Abu Dhabi. We will be involved in operating it for the first 25 years.

The crude oil that we purchase in the United Arab Emirates is for our refining operations.
