Total's activities in Alberta's Athabasca oil sands are conducted by our subsidiary Total E&P Canada (TEPCA). Surmont ©ConocoPhillips - Number of employees : 333 (at December 31, 2011). The expected production in 2020 amounted to 200,000 barrels / day
Key dates :
1999 : In situ Surmont project, interest acquisition
2005 : Acquisition of Deer Creek Energy and its sole asset, the Joslyn lease.
2007 : Surmont Phase 1, production start-up.
2008 : Acquisition of Synenco and its 60% interest in its sole asset, the Northern Lights mining project.
2010 : Sanction and launch of Surmont Phase 2.
2010 : Acquisition of UTS Energy Corporation (20% interest in Fort Hills Mine).
2010 : Total and Suncor form a strategic alliance in Canada's oil sands.
2011 : Total acknowledges receipt of federal Order in Council for Joslyn North Mine Project
