After the catastrophe in Toulouse, TotalFinaElf, in conjunction with its insurers, has taken a number of measures to support the victims.

In light of differences in currently available estimates, the total amount of compensation due to victims and of damages due to third parties is still uncertain. However, it appears that, should the company be ruled liable and should its liability be extended to all the damages, the guarantees Grande Paroisse has under its liability insurance policies would be exceeded.

In that event, the impact on the Group’s net income could be up to around EUR 300 million.

TotalFinaElf will make sure that Grande Paroisse has the financial resources to fulfil its obligations.
