TotalFinaElf announces the start-up of production on the Atora oil field, located on shore in the heart of the Gabonese equatorial forest, 35 kilometers north of Gamba in the Ogooué Maritime Province.

Elf Gabon* is the operator of the Atora field with a 40% interest, in partnership with Amerada Hess Gabon (40%) and Shell Gabon (20%). Work was carried out according to schedule, the provisional budget and a study’s especially strict recommendations on its impact on the environment.

Production should rapidly reach a plateau of 20,000 barrels of oil a day.

This development strengthens TotalFinaElf’s position as leading operator in Gabon.
