The 1997 results for Elf Gabon, which reported a net income of $298.3 million, were approved by the General Shareholders' Meeting held in Libreville today.

The dividend for the year was set at $64.73 per share.

Taking into account the $34.73 per share which was paid in June 1997 concerning the liquidation of CPIH and the $15 paid in December 1997 concerning current operations, the remaining amount to be paid is $15 per share.

The Board of Directors of Elf Gabon met following the General Shareholders' Meeting and set the modalities for the payment of the remaining amount of the dividend. This $15 per share will be paid as of June 10, 1998, in French francs (or the equivalent in CFA francs) based on the Banque de France US dollar rate on May 27, or F5.9102, for a dividend payment of FF88.65 per share.

Payment will be made at the following banks:

  • in Gabon : Union Gabonaise de Banque,
  • in France : Crédit Lyonnais, Banque Nationale de Paris, Banque Paribas, Crédit Commercial de France, Crédit Industriel et Commercial, Crédit du Nord, Société Générale.
