Press Seminar: Future of Energy and Environment
Imprimer
Jun. 25, 08

On Monday, June 2, Total held a press seminar on the future of energy and the environment at the Paris-la Défense headquarters. This was a first in more ways than one: a first in format because, for the first time, Total offered about fifty journalists an in-depth response to a major communication topic. Another first in terms of content, since this seminar opened up regular communication by the Group on energy and environmental issues.

"It's high time we stopped thinking that energy and the environment are mutually exclusive," said Total Chief Executive Officer Christophe de Margerie, who opened the seminar. "Factors in the most complex equation that the world has to resolve in the coming years include the development of emerging economies, restricted access to energy resources, energy prices and pressing environmental issues. All stakeholders must take part in public discussion and work together to devise solutions."
