It follows a 9,000-kilometer course through Argentina, Chile and Per. Present for more than 25 years in the region, Total oversees a logistics operation that refuels the motorcycles, quads, cars and trucks during the race. Some 30 vehicles and 400 people are deployed at roughly 50 refueling points.
Total's logo is also sported during the race by several of the main competitors, including Christian Lavieille, Isabelle Patissier, Thierry Magnaldi and David Casteu in 2012.
Lastly, each year we award the Elf Moto trophy, just for the motorcyclists taking part.
Total has been a loyal supporter of the Dakar Rally for 20 years. Two decades as a partner of an exceptional event that is part technical challenge, part sporting feat. Twenty years of overcoming limits and building team spirit in this unique adventure."
