Total is a partner on the offshore oil and condensate gas field of Gina Krog, operated by Statoil on blocks 15/5 and 15/6 in the Norwegian North Sea. The project will produce 60,000 barrels of oil/day and 9 million cubic meters of gas/day at plateau capacity.
- Total’s participation: 30%
- Partners: Statoil (58.7%), PGNiG Upstream International (8%) and Det Norske (3.3%)
Gina Krog has substantial reserves which place it in the major projects league, and represents a new lease on life for hydrocarbon production in the Norwegian North Sea, where it can draw on existing infrastructure and the expertise Total and Statoil have built up in this mature zone over the years.
Kicked off at the end of 2012, the development of this offshore oil and natural gas field in shallow water depths of 120 m will include construction of a fixed platform of 16,000 metric tons tied by pipeline into the gas hub on the Sleipner field, 30 km away.
Daily injections of 8 million m3 of dry gas into the reservoir 3,500 meters down should enhance hydrocarbon recovery. The Gina Krog field is expected to go on stream in the first quarter of 2017.
