The ekofisk south project in norway

Drilling 35 new production wells on Ekofisk South enhances oil and gas recovery from the mature Ekofisk field. The project demonstrates Total’s long-term commitment to Norway.

Total is a partner in the offshore Ekofisk South project in Production License (PL) 018, operated by ConocoPhillips.

Oil and gas production started up on October 25, 2013, with a capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (70 kboe/d).

With Ekofisk South, Total is extending the producing life of oil and gas assets in Norway, which is one of the largest contributors to our output.
  • Total’s interest: 39.9%
  • Partners: ConocoPhillips (35.11%, operator), ENI (12.39%), Statoil (7.6%) and Petoro (5.00%)

The multidisciplinary know-how harnessed for the project will extend the producing life of the mature Ekofisk field in the North Sea by:

  • Bringing additional reserves on stream.
  • Enhancing the recovery rate. The development plan includes the installation of a new platform (Ekofisk 2/4Z) and subsea infrastructure (Ekofisk 2/4VB) and the drilling of 35 new production wells and eight water injection wells, in addition to the 130 existing wells.

Total, the lead partner in PL 018, played an active role in designing the project and modeling reservoir behavior.

For Total, managing our field installations responsibly and sustainably is an integral part of our commitment to safety and environmental protection in our North Sea operations
