LNG regasification terminals
Hazira, India

Equity interest: 26 %
Total capacity: 4.8 bcm/year
Startup: 2005
Located in Gujarat state on India’s northwestern coast, Hazira is the country’s second regasification terminal. Designed to handle 4.8 billion cubic meters a year, it may be expanded to 8 billion cubic meters a year. The LNG delivered to Hazira is sold directly to end users — power plants, industry, fertilizer manufacturers — and local gas utilities.
Altamira, Mexico

Equity interest: 25 %
Total capacity: 6.7 bcm/year
Startup: 2006
Located on the east coast of Mexico, the Altamira regasification terminal came on stream in fall 2006. It has a jetty, two 150,000-cubic-meter storage tanks and an initial capacity of 6.7 billion cubic meters a year. The site’s configuration could accommodate construction of a third storage tank, which would double the terminal’s capacity. Altamira sells its natural gas under a long-term sale and purchase agreement to Mexico’s national electric utility, which uses it to supply several gas-fired thermal power plants.
Sabine Pass, United States

Capacity reserved by Total: 10 bcm/year
Total capacity: 26 bcm/year in Phase 1, rising to 40 bcm/year in Phase 2
Startup: September 2008 (Phase 1) and third-quarter 2009 (Phase 2)
Since April 2009, Total has had a capacity reservation of 10 billion cubic meters a year in the Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana, developed by a subsidiary of Cheniere Energy, Inc. The terminal can accommodate the biggest existing LNG carriers (up to 265,000 cubic meters). Phase 1 comprises three 160,000-cubic-meter storage tanks; Phase 2, scheduled for completion in third-quarter 2009, will add two more tanks of similar capacity. We have also reserved equivalent capacity in a new downstream pipeline, having negotiated its design and construction. This pipeline connects the terminal to several gas trunklines, providing diversified access to the main U.S. gas markets. We have also arranged for 0.06 billion cubic meters of working storage capacity in salt caverns at the pipeline terminus.
South Hook, United Kingdom

Equity interest: 8.35 %
Total capacity: 21 bcm/year
Startup: 2009
Located in Milford Haven, Wales, the South Hook terminal is Europe’s biggest regasification complex and can accommodate large capacity Q-Flex and Q-Max LNG carriers, which can transport cargoes of 215,000 and 265,000 cubic meters respectively. Total has an 8.35% interest in South Hook, alongside Qatar Petroleum (67.5%) and ExxonMobil (24.15%).
With a capacity of 21 billion cubic meters a year, the terminal has been designed to receive and process LNG from the Qatargas II project. South Hook can supply up to 20% of U.K. gas demand and gives the country — and more broadly, Europe — a way to secure and significantly diversify its supply.
Fos Cavaou, France

Equity interest: 29.8 %
Total capacity: 8.25 bcm/year
Startup: 2009
Built in the industrial zone of Fos-sur-Mer on the Cavaou peninsula, the terminal is being developed by Société du Terminal Méthanier de Fos Cavaou (STMFC), whose shareholders are GDF Suez and Total. The terminal will have three tanks with a capacity of 110,000 cubic meters each. Regasification will be carried out using seawater regasifiers, a technology that averts carbon emissions. The facility will be used mainly to receive will our Middle Eastern production.
Adria LNG, Croatia
Equity interest: 25.58 %
Total capacity: 10 bcm/year
Startup: 2015
In October 2007, Total acquired an interest in Adria LNG, the company studying the feasibility of building a regasification terminal on the Croatian coast. Our partners are E.ON Ruhrgas (31.15%), OMV (25.58%), RWE (16.69%) and Geoplin (1%).
The terminal would be built on Krk Island, in the northern Adriatic Sea. Located on Central Europe’s doorstep, Adria LNG will be well positioned to serve regional markets, as well as Italy and Germany.
