As the global energy mix diversifies, Total is investing in R&D on energy sources and molecules that can be used to supplement oil, with a strategic focus on converting biomass to produce these molecules.

The challenge is to identify resources that can be harnessed sustainably, as well as the most suitable conversion pathways to unlock their energy. Solutions must fit the local context, shrink our environmental footprint and not compete with food crops.
