Ethical Business Conduct
Total conducts business in accordance with the bedrock values and principles set out in our Code of Conduct. The Code reaffirms senior management’s commitments, presents the principles adopted and shared by all Total companies, and lists the internationally recognized documents to which we refer. It also details the business principles to be followed in dealing with our stakeholders and the rules of individual behavior that our employees are expected to apply.
Major resources are dedicated to implementing the ethics process set out in our Code of Conduct, spanning dissemination, awareness and training. The Ethics Committee is responsible for making sure the ethics process is properly applied and is, with immediate supervisors, the main point of contact for any employee facing an ethics-related issue.
The core principles underpinning our Code of Conduct are:
- Upholding human rights.
- Preventing corruption and fraud.
- Promoting free competition.
- Promoting financial transparency.
- Respect for people.
Their tangible application is one of Total’s most critical challenges. For each of these principles, we present and describe:
- The relevant policy statements and commitments of our senior executives
- How they are applied
- The steps taken to monitor their correct application and
- Recent achievements.
