Human Rights Internal Guide intended for all Group employees
“Respect for Human Rights must be an integral part of our day-to-day activities. It is everybody’s concern. Your vigilance and personal involvement in this ethical approach are essential.”

Internal Guide and Human Rights On a Day-to-Day basis (2 booklets)
Respect for human rights is non-negotiable for a company like Total. Through our Code of Conduct, we undertake to respect human rights within our sphere of activities.
However it remains a complex matter on the field. The Human Rights Internal Guide is thereby designed to provide all employees with support and guidance about human rights, regardless of their country of residence.
The Guide, deriving from the Code of Conduct, compiles existing policies and adds to recommendations that have already been given. It is divided into two booklets.
- The first booklet precisely spells out the Group's human rights approach and three major themes which are a priority to our industry: human rights in the workplace, human rights and local communities and human rights and security. For each topic, employees have access to international standards, Group's recommendations and relevant tools.
- The second booklet further examines our relationships with stakeholders in specific human rights situations already encountered in the Group or in the industry. These fourteen practical examples, split by stakeholder category (employees, suppliers and service providers, associates and industry partners, public and private security forces, local communities and indigenous peoples, host country governments), can help concretely our employees in the decision-making.
