Driving Shared Development

Undertaking corporate philanthropy initiatives

Some communities in our host countries are very poor or are contending with specific problems. We can provide material assistance to help improve their situation.

The Total Foundation, Committed to the Common Interest

With an annual budget of €10 million, the Total Foundation is France’s leading corporate foundation.

It provides funding for programs that tackle social exclusion and promote equal opportunity throughout the education process.

In France, it has committed €50 million over six years, alongside the Education Ministry, to the Fonds d’expérimentation pour la Jeunesse, a community development fund for youth that finances projects to help young people enter the workforce.

Total supports Institut Pasteur and the fight against
infectious diseases.

The Foundation is also very active in the area of public health, donating €2 million per year since 2005 to the Pasteur Institute for research into infectious diseases and public health programs in our host countries.

It also funds community support projects championed by Total employees and regularly makes emergency aid donations to the Red Cross. For example, the Foundation donated €1 million to relief efforts in Haiti and another €1 million to help the victims of the earthquake in Japan.

Lastly, it finances marine biodiversity protection projects and promotes cultural dialogue by supporting exhibitions that showcase the arts and traditions of host countries.
