We have been involved in exploration and production in Nigeria for more than 50 years, and also market petroleum products and related services in the country.
We distribute Awango solar lamps via an entrepreneurship program and our network of more than 520 service stations.
Lastly, we are implementing a growing number of community outreach projects, primarily in the field of healthcare, training and education.

Exploration & Production in Nigeria

Nigeria is a top-tier partner that accounts for roughly 11% of total E&P output. Our interests in Nigeria comprise 31 oil mining leases (OML), five of which we operate, as well as four oil prospecting leases (OPLs).

We operate the following OMLs:

  • OML 58 (40%, operator), which includes the Obagi field, the Ibewa gas field and the Obite gas plant.
  • OML 99 (40%, operator), which includes a portion of the Amenam-Kpono field, and the Ikike field under development.
  • OML 100 (40%, operator), which includes the Odudu, Afia, Ime and Edikan fields and the floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel Unity.
  • OML 102 (40%, operator), which includes the Ofon field, where we completely halted the flaring of associated gas.
  • OML 130 (24%, operator), which contains the Akpo and Egina fields.

We also have a 12.5% interest in the OML 118 license (which is located in the deep offshore and includes the Bonga field), a 20% interest in the OML 138 license and a 10% interest in the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) joint venture.

We are a 15% shareholder of Nigeria LNG, a natural gas liquefaction and export company that operates one of the biggest gas liquefaction plants in the world, Bonny Island in southern Nigeria.

We purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) under long-term sale and purchase agreements, mainly for Asia.

As part of our petrochemicals business, we market polymers through third parties, which are primarily sourced from our South Korean joint venture.
