Total in Indonesia

Updated on March 2017

Two workers put the finishing touches on a newly built Total service station in Jakarta.

We have been active in Indonesia since 1968, where we are both a leading oil and gas operator and the top French investor.

In addition, we are involved in long-term environmental and community initiatives in such areas as education, public health and alternative energies. More than 34,000 Awango solar lamps have been sold in the East Java province as part of our Total Access to Energy program.

Exploration & Production in Indonesia

Most of our operated production comes from the Mahakam license (50%), located in the delta of the same name, which notably includes the Tunu and Peciko gas fields. We also hold a 47.9% interest in the Sisi-Nubi gas field, which we operate. The Mahakam license is set to expire in December 2017.

We deliver most of the natural gas we produce in the country to the Bontang facility, one of the largest liquefaction plants in the world.

Our non-operated production comes from the offshore Sebuku PSC (15%) north of Kalimantan, in particular the Ruby gas field.

We operate two exploration blocks: Mentawai, with an 80% interest, and Telen, with a 100% interest.

We also have stakes in the following inactive blocks: Sadang (30%), Sageri (50%), Arafura Sea (24.5%), Amborip (24.5%), South West Bird's Head (90%, operator) and South East Mahakam (50%, operator).
