Improving shipping safety is an ongoing focus for the entire oil industry. To ensure that we are always ready to deal with emergency situations and pollution risks, Total is a member of the following organizations:
OSRL - EARL (Oil Spill Response Limited - East Asia Response limited, in Southampton, Singapore and Barhein)
CEDRE, a French organization that conducts research into accidental water pollution.
Pollution control equipment is kept on a number of sites, with the most significant resources held by the Fast Oil Spill Team (FOST) in Rognac, near Marseille.
We also have an in-house team of spill experts in accidental oil pollutions on water and on land. This team is responsible for determining pollution control requirements and the resources needed to meet them. Both human resources and equipment are tested during regular drills.
In addition, Total works in close cooperation with specialized national and international organizations such as the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA). |
