Total has been awarded an exploration block within the framework of the second international bidding round launched by Libya.

The block 42 2/4 is located in the Cyrenaique basin in eastern Libya with an area of around 3,400 square kilometres.

Appreciation works including seismic and drilling are planned on the block.

Total is the operator of the block with a 60% interest in partnership with the Japanese Company Inpex (40%).
