TotalFinaElf, the operator, announces the installation of a production platform on Block K1a, located in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, around 150 kilometers northwest of Den Helder. The start-up of gas production from this development (TotalFinaElf 42,37 %, Energie Beheer Nederland B.V. 43,3 %, and Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij 14,33%) is planned for early next year from two wells. Drilling will begin before the end of August.

This new satellite will produce around 3 million cubic meters of gas per day. All gas has been sold to Gasunie.

This new development further strengthens the position of TotalFinaElf in the Netherlands where it is the second largest operator, with a gas production of 73,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2000.
