In accordance with the agreements signed on 28 November 2000 with AES Corporation and on 2 March 2001 with GENER, TotalFinaElf announces the completion of the acquisition of 63.9% of the company Central Puerto and of an Argentina/Brazil electric interconnection project.

The assets owned by Central Puerto represent, on a 100% basis, an installed capacity of approximately 2,165 megawatts.

This acquisition has received the approval of the relevant regulatory and competition authorities.

The closure of the acquisitions of the other assets included in the agreements with AES Corporation remain subject to the finalization of the evaluations underway and to the approval of the relevant authorities.
