TotalFinaElf initiated a pilot e-commerce project in mid-2000, in which transactions usually take place on the Trade-Ranger marketplace. The Group has successfully carried out, on schedule, close to 1,000 e-catalogue procurement transactions covering exploration and production operations in the United Kingdom, the service station network in France and several chemicals plants. In addition, e-auction transactions have been completed in the Refining & Marketing and Exploration & Production sectors in Europe and the United States, for a total amount of nearly €10 million.

The Group’s procurement spend totals nearly €15 billion per year worldwide. E-procurement transactions will eventually account for around half of this amount, delivering significant economies of scale in the total cost of the purchasing function.

Trade-Ranger, a global e-marketplace for energy and chemical goods and services, went live at end-2000. TotalFinaElf is one of the 14 founding shareholders.
