ELF GABON to pay dividend of $20 per share

The Elf Gabon General Shareholders’ Meeting called by the Board of Directors on October 4, 2000, met on December 12, 2000 in Libreville in the Republic of Gabon. The Board’s proposal to pay a dividend of $20 per share, to be deducted from reserves, was approved.

The Board determined the dividend payment terms at a meeting held on December 14.

    • A dividend of $20 will be paid as of December 28, 2000, in euros or in French francs (or in CFA francs) based on the Banque de France US dollar rate on December 12, 2000 (1.1387 euros or FF7.4693 = $1) or a payment of 22.77 euros or FF149.39 per share.
    • Payment will be made by the following banks:
  • In Gabon: Union Gabonaise des Banques.
  • In France: Crédit Lyonnais, BNP Paribas, Crédit Commercial de France, Crédit Industriel et Commercial, Crédit du Nord and Société Générale.

Conforming to legislation in force in Gabon and the bilateral conventions between France and Gabon, the dividend will have the right to a tax credit in France equal to $0.48, corresponding to the sum withheld in Gabon.
