Elf Atochem is offering formulators a new Kynar® licensed paint additive: Kynar 500® HTG.
Providing enhanced flexibility, Kynar 500 HTG imparts superior performance to paints with a Kynar 500®, Kynar 500® Plus or Kynar 500 PC® base. With this added benefit of greater flexibility, metal panels and profiles can be cut into shape and folded more easily, whilst also less likely to sustain micro-cracks along folds and corners with ageing.
Kynar 500® HTG is a copolymer obtained from an Elf Atochem patented polymerisation process. A powder with a very fine particle size (below 10 microns), this additive is applied in dispersion. It features the same properties of durability and weatherability as Kynar 500®, and, being compatible with all types of grades, aptly complements the existing range.
Kynar additives - Kynar 500, Kynar 500 Plus and Kynar 500 PC grades - are incorporated to the formulation of coatings for use on metal parts for construction (profiles, sheets). Licensed paint formulators must comply with a number of conditions, including a Kynar content of 70% of the overall weight of resins. These coatings have a remarkable ability to withstand UV rays, ageing, stains and solvents.
