Appointment of Bernard Estève

Effective September 1, nuclear power expert Bernard Estève is appointed Advisor to Total, reporting to Philippe Boisseau, President, Gas & Power. His appointment will help Total meet its strategic goal of expanding into the nuclear power industry.

    Bernard Estève, 63, is a graduate of France’s Ecole Polytechnique engineering school, the Ecole Nationale des Mines mining engineering school in Paris, and the National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INSTN) in Saclay.
He began his career in 1970 in Gaz de France’s R&D Department, subsequently moving to Electricité de France’s Thermal and Nuclear Power Plant Design and Projects Department in 1977. In 1980, he was appointed Nuclear Engineering Services Manager in Tours, before being named in 1987 Vice President, IT and Budget/Planning in EDF’s Infrastructure Department. In 1990, Mr. Estève became Vice President, Thermal and Nuclear Power Plant Design and Projects, before being appointed Vice President, Fuel, in 1993. In 2000, he joined Framatome (now Areva) as Vice President, Nuclear Fuel. He was appointed Senior Vice President, Nuclear Power Plants, at Framatome ANP in 2002. In 2006, he moved to the United States as Executive President of Areva North America.
