Total has long considered Qatar as a key country due to its natural gas resources and its proximity to growing markets in Asia. We are present all along the production chain, from gas to polymers and play a major role in the country’s petrochemical sector through our interests in two joint ventures (Qapco and Qatofin). We also have an interest in a condensate refinery (Laffan Refinery 1), which processes the light oils associated with natural gas production. A project to double the refining capacity (Laffan Refinery 2) will be completed by the end of 2016.

Present in Qatar since 1974, we have interests in several major activities, including the Ras Laffan condensate refinery; the Qapco joint venture, which notably operates an ethane steam cracker and several low-density polyethylene units; and the Qatofin joint venture, which owns an ethane steam cracker, a 128-km pipeline from Ras Laffan to Mesaieed, and a linear low-density polyethylene unit.
