Pilot rivers to test the impact of products on the ecosystem

To protect the ecosystem effectively, we first need to understand exactly how different products affect it. The Pilot Rivers project aims to do just that. This innovative research program was set up by the Mont-Lacq Research & Development Center (in southwestern France) to evaluate the response of selected biomarkers* to certain products.
The installation quantifies the effects of chemicals on specific bioindicators, and should help refine our insight into the impact of effluents discharged into rivers.
