  • Today, there are three broad issues that must be resolved in order for CO2 capture and geological storage technology to reach maturity:

    • cost reduction, especially in relation to the CO2 capture phase;
    • establishment of a legal and regulatory framework to better define the conditions for the monitoring of storage sites and the long-term responsibility for the site;
    • public acceptance.
