The Ethics intranet site is designed to help share Group values with all of our employees worldwide and to inform them about such key issues as human rights, respect of employees, transparency, free competition, integrity, governance, confidentiality and vigilance.
A Dedicated Site
A dedicated Ethics intranet was created in 2005 to help us share our values more systematically and inform all of our employees about ethical issues. Containing 90 pages and 350 links to other sites, the Ethics intranet provides easy access to information for more than 70,000 employees worldwide.
Main Objectives
The Ethics intranet is designed to:
- Provide access to internal and external reference documents concerning ethics.
- List international frameworks and standards applied in our operations, such as those published by the United Nations, the International Labour Organization, the EITI and the Global Compact.
- Define ethics focuses at Total, such as human rights, respect of employees, transparency, free competition, integrity, governance, confidentiality and vigilance.
- Describe the Group's position and the initiatives taken to apply our ethical principles.
- Highlight and explain how the Ethics Committee works; the Committee is tasked with ensuring that our ethical principles are upheld and embraced.
- Facilitate employee referral of ethical issues, for example through the Ethics Committee and Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblowing protection.
- Share best practices.
