Restoring the Ecological Balance

Sand beach in Belle-Île en mer

As early as December 23, 1999, Total began working with local communities, environmental protection associations and official organizations on programs to restore the ecological balance.

Numerous partnerships have been established particularly with:

  • Nantes Veterinary School, to support its studies on oil-covered birds in care or transit centers.
  • CEDRE, for its research programs on protecting and restoring the ecological balance.
  • IFREMER, for its research into Atlantic coastline biotopes and biocoenoses.
  • Conservatoire du Littoral, a coastal wildlife conservation institute that works to improve the reproductive conditions of certain seabird species.

Total has also helped to restore the Atlantic coast's tourist appeal by taking part in the campaign run by France's tourism authority and national tourist office.
